Co-ops
Latin Co-op ~
With the recent comeback of the Traditional Latin Mass*, CHAPLET
recently formed a Catholic co-op for teaching our students Latin. A parishioner from St. Peter Parish teaches
a class full of CHAPLET members with students that range in age from 5 to
14 years old. Classes are based on
the Prima Latina method, but offer much more in prayer, song, and history. The class meets once a week in the home
of a CHAPLET member. For more
information, e-mail our Latin class.
* ~ For local Traditional Catholic Masses, go to St. Peter in Merchantville or Mater Ecclesiae in Berlin
Q: What is a co-op?
A: In a typical homeschool environment, a
parent teaches his/her children at home. In a co-op, children from several
families get together in a more formal classroom setting and are taught by
one parent who has a talent and desire to teach a particular subject.
As
we pray that a Catholic Co-op will form for local homeschool families, some
of our children attend co-ops from other Christian denominations. See if what these co-ops have to offer
will be beneficial to you and your family, and keep praying for the
formation of a Catholic Co-op in the near future!
The Collingswood United Methodist Church hosts HIS Homeschool held on Friday mornings for two ten-week sessions throughout the
school year. HIS Homeschool
accommodates children from Nursery through High School for a minimal family
registration fee.
Higher Ground is an alliance of
Christian homeschool families who are joining together to help one another
to educate their children. These Christian faith-based classes are designed
to be used in combination with study time every day at home under parental
supervision. This year,
Higher Ground takes place at a Presbyterian Church in Mt. Laurel, NJ.
